Gletness is centrally placed for travel north, south and west, and is situated 4½ miles (7 kms) from the main north-south road (A970).

To get to Gletness from the main road (A970):

Leave the A970 at the South Nesting junction and carry on until you reach Robertson & Read's shop - where you bear right. Carry on for about a mile (approx 1½ kms) and turn right in front of the housing estate at Stendaal into the road signposted to Gletness. Follow this road until you see the yellow-painted Isleshavn Chalet. We live in the stone-built house below with the outside staircase to the front door.

A trip to Lerwick, which is 14 miles (22½ kms) away, takes less than half an hour.

The nearest Post Office and post box are situated at the well-stocked local shop, which also sells petrol and diesel. The shop, situated three miles (almost 5 kms) away, is open Monday to Saturday inclusive. 

Large-scale Ordnance Survey maps of Shetland and of Nesting, and a Lerwick street plan are available for use of guests.

Information on local church services, nearest places to eat out, etc are posted on the notice board in the chalet.
